ABOARD USS ENTERPRISE, At sea (NNS) -- The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 departed Naval Station Norfolk for a regularly scheduled deployment July 7 in support of the global war on terrorism.This is Enterprise’s second deployment within the past 14 months. Stennis (CVN 74). The removal of LPT bolts is necessary to perform maintenance on the accessory gearbox of a jet engine. Stennis is on a scheduled deployment in support of the global war on terrorism and maritime operations. Q: What is "Six-Sigma?"
A: Six-Sigma is a way of examining and improving processes to reduce the variation in the output of a process. By making things less variable and more predictable, quality can be improved and scarce resources consumed by variation can be redirected to other needs.

Q: How is the Total Force (TF) Cross Functional Team (CFT) addressing some of the existing people management challenges?

A: To address existing challenges, the NAE TF is:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of the Total Force currently employed in support of the NAE
- Developing comprehensive metrics to better understand the value and cost of our Total Force
- Working through the Type-Model-Series teams to communicate successes and establish buy-in within the fleet
- Mapping and optimizing the existing NAE Total Force Value Chain
- Collecting, evaluating, and mplementing approved people-related readiness initiatives
- Working with the Navy's new MPT&E organization to deliver a transformed, competency focused, manpower and personnel system
- Creating a performance-based culture that values the contributions of our people
- Clearly linking work requirements to warfighting readiness and
- Striving to becaome an employer of choice to attract the best talent in the future marketplace.
